A few important things to know.

Online notarization isn’t appropriate for every document or every location. Check the receiving organization’s requirements before arranging your appointment.

Is my document eligible for an online appointment?

Eligibility depends on the document, your physical location, the notary’s authority and the applicable requirements. Some matters need original documents, an in-person meeting or another professional. Suitability must be confirmed before an appointment can proceed.

Will the recipient accept an online notarization?

Confirm directly with the receiving organization that it accepts the proposed remote process, electronic signatures and the final document format. Notarization does not guarantee acceptance in Canada or another country.

What if my document will be used outside Canada?

The recipient may require an original signed document, authentication, an apostille, legalization or a translation. Ask for its written requirements before choosing a service.

Does notarization include legal advice?

The information on this website is general information, not legal advice. Notarization does not confirm that a document is appropriate for your situation. If you need advice about its meaning or legal effect, consult a qualified legal professional.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Start with the details of your document.

Before you plan an appointment, gather the complete document and the recipient’s instructions. These details help establish whether the requested service is suitable.
